Malpensa Express links Milan Malpensa Airport with Milan. The most useful first decision is whether you need Milano Centrale or Milano Cadorna. Those are different stations, so compare the final trip to your hotel or next train before selecting a departure.
Choose Centrale or Cadorna before buying
Milano Centrale is useful for many onward intercity and high-speed departures; verify the station printed on that separate ticket. Cadorna may better suit an address on its side of the city or a local transport connection. Do not choose only by the first train you see. Compare the train destination, total transfer time and any local travel needed after arrival.
Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 are separate stops
Check your airline booking for the terminal and use that terminal in the airport train search. Follow current signs between the terminal and railway station. An itinerary to the wrong terminal can add another transfer. Malpensa Express serves Malpensa (MXP); a flight to Linate or Bergamo requires a different airport transfer plan.
How to compare prices and ticket conditions
Use the operator’s current timetable and ticket pages for your date, passenger ages and selected station. Check single versus return conditions, travel validity and any validation instructions. Compare the total for the entire party rather than multiplying a group total again. Keep the issued ticket available offline and retain the purchase reference if you later need help with it.
Allow time before a flight or onward train
For departures from Malpensa, start with the airline’s required arrival time at the correct terminal, then add station access and disruption allowance. For an incoming flight, baggage collection and immigration can be unpredictable. A separately booked onward high-speed train may have restrictive change rules; an airport rail ticket does not automatically protect that connection.
Check service notices, especially on strike days
Read the dated notice on Malpensa Express or Trenord shortly before travel. Strike arrangements and replacement buses can use different endpoints from the normal railway service. Verify the actual boarding point, destination and current instructions. Do not infer that every departure operates because a minimum-service list exists; look for the exact train or stated replacement service.
